CHILDREN'S BOOKS
One of my leading illustration goals is to create artwork for children's books. Usually working in Procreate, I create hand-drawn illustrations that bring children’s stories to life.
Below are a few illustrations I made for Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling - part of my BA (Hons) Illustration coursework - drawn digitally in Procreate using pen and ink, watercolour and coloured pencils.
These pieces showcase my style and approach to children’s book illustration, highlighting playful characters and expressive storytelling designed to captivate young readers.

One of my ultimate goals is to become a children's author and illustrator. I created the Sharky Cats and Slinky Sloos poem and artwork for my illustration degree coursework. We were tasked with being inspired by, or writing our own, nonsense poem, like Lewis Carroll's Jabberwocky. I decided to write mine and then set about creating the characters. I absolutely loved working on this project and in the future hope to create a whole book based around nonsense poems and world building, it is definitely one of the most exciting projects I've ever worked on and I was delighted with the result (as was my tutor, which made me even more pleased with the outcome).

As part of my degree coursework we were given a brief to create a book cover on the subject of Endangered Animals. After researching some of the most endangered animals in the world and deciding which ones to include (some of the more unknown, such as the hooded seal), I worked through the process of creating three thumbnail compositions, three different colour palettes and finally arrived at the cover above. I received excellent feedback from my tutor and I have discovered that this category of work ignites my heart and soul as an artist and illustrator.

As part of the Imagined Book Cover challenge on Instagram (founded by illustrator Monty Lee), I created this character and cover based on the title 'Daisy Sweetapple Lives Next Door'.

'Eleanora's Sneeze' also resulted from my participation in the Imagined Book Cover challenge on Instagram. Eleanora is a giraffe with an allergy problem - which can be humorously difficult for those around her - but she finds a way to cope better with a little help from her friends.
