CARTOONS

I create hand-drawn cartoons that combine humour, storytelling and strong visual communication.

Below is a selection of my cartoon work which ranges from playful word-based pieces to satirical and political illustrations that deliver powerful messages with clarity and wit.

My cartoons often use two or more panels to convey ideas quickly and memorably, making them ideal for editorial use, magazines and digital publications.

If you are looking to commission a cartoonist for a magazine, newspaper or campaign, or want a bespoke cartoon as a unique gift, I would love to collaborate.

Hand-drawn editorial cartoon of bees in a classroom illustrating the idiom Bee’s Knees by Frances Marcellin

A witty editorial cartoon titled Bee’s Knees showing a literal interpretation of the idiom with bees in a classroom setting to highlight language and word-play.

Hand-drawn editorial cartoon of grandad on a rocking chair with kids shouting humorous phrase

This humorous editorial cartoon reimagines the classic phrase “He’s off his rocker” in a literal and light-hearted way. Grandad rocks contentedly in his chair while the children gleefully call out the idiom, creating a playful visual pun that celebrates wordplay and generational humour.

Hand-drawn editorial cartoon illustrating the phrase Dead Centre of Town with a cemetery visual pun

Inspired by a phrase overheard from my father, this witty editorial cartoon brings the expression “dead centre of town” to life.

When a driver asks for directions to the cemetery, the idiom takes a literal turn, blending dark humour with visual storytelling.

Hand-drawn digitally, this piece reflects my love of wordplay and my ability to transform everyday sayings into smart, memorable cartoons that connect instantly with audiences.

Hand-drawn cartoon of painter dipping brush in tea instead of water digitally illustrated by Frances Marcellin

This light-hearted cartoon captures the relatable moment every artist half dreads – when the paintbrush ends up in the tea instead of the water jar. Hand-drawn digitally, it blends everyday humour with a painter’s perspective, turning a small studio mishap into a funny visual story.

Hand-drawn political cartoon of Donald Trump with finger on bomb labelled The Best Bombs

This political cartoon features Donald Trump confidently telling J. D. Vance, “We’ll tell Iran we want peace,” while resting his finger on a button labelled “the best bombs.” The hand-drawn digital illustration uses sharp satire to comment on the contradictions between political rhetoric and military power. Bold and thought-provoking it blends humour and critique in equal measure.

Hand-drawn political cartoon of kids with Israel and Iran flags fighting while Trump and Rutte watch

Inspired by comments made in June 2025, when NATO’s Mark Rutte likened Donald Trump to a “daddy” figure, this political cartoon visualises Trump’s own description of world leaders “fighting like hell” like two schoolyard children. Two kids wearing t-shirts with the Israeli and Iranian flags wrestle over a bomb, while Rutte says, “Don’t fight boys, come to daddy,” and Trump replies, “They don’t know what the f*** they are doing.” Hand-drawn digitally, this sharp editorial cartoon satirises the language of global diplomacy and the absurd power dynamics behind it.

Two-panel hand-drawn editorial cartoon highlighting female plantation workers coerced into hysterectomies

This two-panel editorial cartoon highlights the plight of female plantation workers in India who are coerced into hysterectomies to keep their jobs. Hand-drawn digitally, it is a social issue cartoon designed to communicate a difficult topic clearly and powerfully.

I create strong, visually engaging illustrations for magazines, newspapers, and editorial publications, helping art directors and editors convey complex stories quickly and effectively.

Hand-drawn educational cartoon showing seahorses using camouflage to catch prey for children’s learning

This amusing six-panel editorial cartoon was drawn for an audience of young readers to teach them how the Pygmy Seahorse can camouflage itself to avoid predators and to catch pray!

The seahorse is positive about itself and its characteristics to affirm in kids the concepts of body positivity and self-confidence.

A satirical one-panel cartoon that demonstrates Israel's influence over the US government. There are many sources behind this piece, but this article in The Intercept makes for effective explanatary reading if you so wish to delver further into this concept: https://theintercept.com/2024/10/24/aipac-spending-congress-elections-israel.
